مستخلص: This article reveals the assignment of TLL1 and TLL2, which encode human bone morphogenetic protein-1 (BMP-1) or Tolloid-related metalloproteases, to chromosomes 4q32→q33 and 10q23→q24 and assignment of murine Tll2 to chromosome 19. BMP-1 processes procollagens I-III to yield the major fibrillar structures of vertebrate extracellular matrix and Tolloid act in dorsal-ventral patterning during embryogenesis, by liberating TGF&b.beta;-like molecules from latent complexes. In summary, TLL1 and TLL2 mapping has been confirmed using radiation hybrid mapping, fluorescence in situ hybridization and linkage mapping of murine Tll1 gene as the different methodologies for each gene.
