The author reflects on the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) disease. He states that that OSA is the most predominant cause of sleep-related breathing disorders which characterizes with excessive airway blockage during sleep, hypercarbia and central nervous system arousal. He also states that continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) method is a common form of treatment for OSA which is delivered by a nasal or oro-nasal mask. |
