The article presents an investigation on the use of vertebral heart score (VHS) in coughing dogs with chronic degenerative mitral valve disease (MVD). The research used 90 dogs with history of cough and clinical and echocardiographic evidence of MVD in determining the effect of VHS on their health. Results of the research indicate that VHS may be an additional tool for differentiating the origin of cough in dogs with MVD. Moreover, dogs with MVD and other radiographic signs of cough of cardiac origin have higher VHS than dogs with cough of non-cardiac origin. |
