مستخلص: |
Liberal and realist scholars have traditionally collided over the efficacy of institutions to initiate and sustain cooperation among nation-states. While liberalism recorded a sweeping victory at the end of the cold war, political realism has made a strong comeback following the 9/11 attacks on America. What has been particularly important in the wake of the 9/11 attacks is the neoconservative dominance in American foreign policy. This paper proposes to examine the threoretical challenges to liberal institutionalism posed by post-9/11 global developments and argues that the neoconservative resurgence in American foreign policy renders liberal institutionalism a deficient framework and, by implications, confirms the basic tenets of political realism in global politics. ..PAT.-Unpublished Manuscript [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
