The article discusses a study which characterized the partial fatty acyl desaturase gene in Catla catla. Catla is considered the fastest growing aquaculture candidate species among the major carps in India. It contains enzymes such as desaturases and elongases by which it performs the highly unsaturated fatty acid (HUFA) biosynthesis. |
