الوصف: In this study, the hard turning steel 9CrSi prepared with CBN tool using minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) of peanut oil with a focus on effects of fluid characteristics. The peanut oil MQL fluid was first formed by varying pressure from 4 atm, 5 atm and 6 atm then introduced into working area with a rate of 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 ml/min. As a result, the peanut oil MQL achieved longer tool life than its dry cutting and emulsion MQL counterparts confirming the cooling and lubrication roles of peanut oil in machining. Additionally, the optimal set of cutting condition for tool life, surface appearance and dimensional accuracy was found at a fluid forming pressure of 5 atm accompanied with a fluid flow speed of 1.0 ml/min. The analysis process of affected mechanisms with the optimal results was also addressed herein.
