    الوصف: This paper examines the career goals and career management strategy of information technology (IT) professionals in Singapore. The results of this research found that IT professionals seek to advance their careers in three ways. The first two are standard career paths, which involve specializing in either a technical or a managerial career. The third career path, termed technopreneurship, involves IT professionals setting up their own IT business. The results of this research also showed that: (1) career planning has a positive impact on career strategy, (2) career strategy has a positive impact on professional enhancement, and (3) professional enhancement has a positive impact on career satisfaction. One important implication of these results is that it is importance for IT professionals to plan and strategize their career.

    الوصف: The principle and steps of the algorithm for mining fuzzy association rules is studied, and the parallel algorithm for mining fuzzy association rules is presented. In this parallel mining algorithm, quantitative attributes are partitioned into several fuzzy sets by the parallel fuzzy c-means algorithm, and fuzzy sets are applied to soften the partition boundary of the attributes. Then, the parallel algorithm for mining Boolean association rules is improved to discover frequent fuzzy attributes. Last, the fuzzy association rules with at least fuzzy confidence are generated on all processors. The parallel mining algorithm is implemented on the distributed linked PC/workstation. The experiment results show that the parallel mining algorithm has fine scaleup, sizeup and speedup.

    الوصف: We introduce a genetic sequence identifier based on a hierarchical system using fuzzy and classic (crisp) neural networks. The system is based on a set of predictors and on a decision network. The prediction of the structure of the genes is addressed using a new method and tools, involving the sequence of distances between bases and neuro-fuzzy predictors. The method and system have been successful in predicting genomic sequences and text structures.

    الوصف: With the rapid accumulation of gene expression data in publicly accessible databases, computational study of gene regulation has become an obtainable goal Intrinsic to this task will be data mining tools for inferring knowledge from biological data. In this project, we have developed a new data mining technique in which we adapt the connectivity of a recurrent neural network model by indexing regulatory elements and including nonlinear interaction terms. The new technique reduces the number of parameters by O(n), therefore increasing the chance of recovering the underlying regulatory network. In order to fit the model from data, we have developed a genetic fitting algorithm with O(n) time complexity and that adapts the connectivity during the fitting process until a satisfactory fit is obtained. We have implemented this fitting algorithm and applied it to two data sets: rat central nervous system development (CNS) data with 112 genes, and yeast whole genome data with 2467 genes. With multiple runs of the fitting algorithm, we were able to efficiently generate a statistical pattern of the model parameters from the data. Because of its adaptive features, this method will be especially useful for reconstructing coarse-grained gene regulatory network from large scale or genome scale gene expression data sets.
