The article discusses the study which introduces an accurate way of measuring the extent of the spatial concentration of research and development (R&D) activity, and provides evidence to which knowledge spillovers are geographically localized within the R&D clusters. It outlines how the clustering of economic activity and R&D laboratories in the U.S. was measured. It also looks on measuring concentration based on the global and local K-function. |
