الوصف: The Real-Time system for the control of the magnetohydrodynamics instabilities in FTU tokamak is presented. It is based on both a-priori information derived from statistical treatment of a database and Real-Time elaboration of live diagnostics data. The analysis codes are executed in different time threads based on multi-processors machines. The actuator is the 2×0.4MW 140 GHz ECRH system equipped with the new fast quasi-optical steerable launcher.

الوصف: The Electron Cyclotron (EC) fast launcher for real time control experiments has been installed on FTU and characterized to be fully integrated in a real-time MHD control module under development. The launcher scheme is based on a two module system, symmetric with respect to the equatorial plane of FTU, with a front steering concept and the launched beams are real-time controllable both in poloidal and toroidal directions. Specific design parameters, defined by the FTU MHD dynamics (typically island size and q profile changes), are the beam dimensions with zooming capabilities, the steering range and mirror speed with the most demanding requirement on poloidal speed of the Steering Mirror (SM) Δθ = 1° in 10 ms. A set of tests has been done to verify the system performance. High power tests of the launcher have been done on a 500 kA, 0.5·1020m−3 and 5.3 T plasma with 2·300 kW of EC power delivered to the plasma. The steering mechanism was tested under the automatic control system and showed a dynamic response in line with the requirements. Results of these tests will be presented in the paper.

الوصف: During the last decades there have been significant changes in trade regulations that are modifying the global trade of wine. The number of non-tariff measures (NTMs) adopted in the wine sector is relevant. Similarly, a large number of bilateral trade agreements have been adopted. Despite the regulation is heavy, the impact of these policy instruments on trade is not always clear, nor quantified at global scale. We investigate the effects that bilateral NTMs are showing on global imports of wine. In particular, we estimate a gravity model to explain how bilateral NTMs influence wine trade, and we disentangle these effects for different segments of the international market of wine. Our results suggest that bilateral NTMs tend to favour imports of wine. Differences emerge across market segments and types of regulations. In particular, the Technical Barriers to Trade favour (friction) bottled (bulk) wine; pre-shipment inspections enhance imports of bottled wine; the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standards are the most trade-enhancing NTMs, regardless of the market segment.

الوصف: Consumers' interest towards food with healthy and sustainable characteristics is growing and companies try to address such trend through the supply of products with characteristics for which consumers show willingness to pay a premium price. Table grapes could be considered a product with functional characteristics since offer a wealth of health benefits due to their high nutrient and antioxidant contents. Moreover, its production and distribution are increasingly affected by sustainability concerns. On the basis of these considerations, the objective of this paper is to evaluate the consumer preferences for health and environmental attributes of table grapes. For this purpose, a nationwide survey was conducted in Italy using the Computer Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI) method and the Best- Worst Scaling Method (BWS) for data analysis. The survey is divided into sections which consider, besides the socio-demographic characteristics of respondents, questions about their preferences related to specific attributes of table grapes (variety, color, seedless, organic or conventional production, origin) and to nutritional and sustainable characteristics reported on the label. Results could be of interest for companies which can focus their marketing strategies on specific characteristics of the product, and for policy makers who are asked to take decisions for public health.

الوصف: Quantification of the resistance in complex roughness situations, when both bed surface and form roughnesses contribute to the total resistance, as well as partitioning of the two contributions is still unsolved. Studies about form resistance of single elements focused on obstacles mounted on smooth bed surfaces, and only few considered a rough bed surface. In order to define an approach for shear stress partitioning in open channel flows, the effect of flow conditions, the geometrical characteristics of the obstacle, and the effect of the bed surface need to be studied. This paper contributes to the topic presenting results of experiments investigating the flow field around a cube and a hemisphere mounted on a bed surface with wake interference roughness. The velocity field and the drag force exerted on the obstacles were measured with a 3D Laser Doppler Anemometer and a drag force sensor, respectively. The double averaging methodology (DAM) was applied to define the characteristic region influenced by the cube and the hemisphere, and to analyse the streamwise velocities. DAM was developed for canopy flow, thus, the methodology needed to be adapted for isolated obstacle situations. A dependency of the drag coefficient on the relative submergence is observed and analysed.

الوصف: Restoration works on an 11 km long reach of the Spree River near Cottbus in Germany were accomplished in 2014. The overall objective was to improve the biodiversity, changing the morphological structure from a straight single-thread river to a braiding one with reshaped thalweg, and creating zones with varying flow velocities required for fish spawning. Several interventions were made, among which also two types of groynes were constructed along the reach: impermeable stone groynes, with an inclined crest so that only the tip is typically submerged during normal flow conditions, and wooden groynes made of several large trunks, which are mainly submerged at normal flow conditions. To compare local morphodynamic effects caused by the different types, flow velocities and bed topography were measured at distances of 12 m upstream and 16 m downstream of two selected groynes. The vertical profile was captured by measuring at five levels above the bed. Bed material was sampled at several locations around the groynes. The analysis of the measurements showed the effect of each groyne type on the flow velocity, bed topography and bed material. Furthermore, the differences in the effects of each groyne type on the flow, bed topography and bed material were highlighted.

الوصف: The choice of a bottle of wine is affected by the presence of attributes that are searched by consumers and can be evaluated before the purchase. The aim of the paper is to analyze the effect of some search attributes on wine price variability applying the Hedonic Price Model. It allows explaining how the price of wine varies depending on its main quality attributes. The analysis has been based on a sample of wines made in Puglia, Italian region characterized by a tradition in wine production and consumption. Data have been collected from a wine guidebook considering the years 2008–2013. The study provided a measure of the market value of some search attributes for wines produced in Puglia. Attributes as alcoholic content, age and score given by experts, influence price variability allowing wines to obtain a premium price, such as the most known Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and some Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). The name of the variety seems not to have high influence with the exception of less known and locally grown varieties. Results may be of interest for marketers and policy makers of wine industry. Managerial implications could refer to the importance of differentiation strategies aimed to market segmentation and to the pricing strategy. Policymakers could also find interesting hints about the influence of the different appellations and the importance of minor autochthonous grape varieties.

الوصف: Wine industry is characterized by high added value, particularly for some segments. The quality of the final product is the result of the right combination of many variables which involve the choice of the suitable wine grape varieties to particular conditions of site location, soil, climate, landscape together with entrepreneurial right decisions in management. The globalization of the market with the increasing of competition among producers and the evidences of climate change, that has different effects on the vitivinicultural areas in the world, have led to the growth of frequency and intensity of risks that winegrowers have to cope with. Their behaviour and reactions in managing risky situations of different nature, often adopting instruments they are not familiar with, as insurance or derivatives, could result in relevant consequences on prices, costs of production, revenues and profits, in other words, on the value chain of the wine production. This paper aims to provide a general overview of the economic literature on risk management in the wine industry.
