مستخلص: The article presents the study which examined the effects of the 2006 expansion of health insurance coverage in Massachusetts on the use of knee and hip replacement procedures by race/ethnicity and area income, as well as the use of safety net hospitals. Based on the results, the expansion resulted in increased access to healthcare and reduced racial/ethnic disparities in the use of elective surgical care.
