Includes bibliographical references leaves 39-41. In this thesis an inverse optimal control problem for constant output feedbacks is investigated. Necessary and sufficient conditions for optimality of an output feedback are derived for single-input, single-output systems. The class of systems with members for which any constant positive output feedback is optimal turns out to be precisely the class of positive real systems.
