The author discusses attacks on ethnic studies and immigrants in Arizona in the context of gender, justice and neoliberal transformations. The application of feminist/queer analysis and politics to the strategies used to counter such attacks is addressed. Neoliberalism is described as a way to analyze the roots of xenophobia in Arizona since it may help contextualize the state's initiatives to establish and manage privatization and individualism. |
