The article discusses the premature birth of Liam John Barnier at the Royal Hospital of Women in Sydney, New South Wales on June 23, 2006. It states that the baby was born at 7 months and three days through cesarean section which only weighed 1.23 kilograms and was 37 centimeters long. It was inferred that the failure of his mother's placenta resulted to the insufficient supply of food or blood for the baby which caused her mother to deliver at an earlier time. It was observed that during the child's birth, he was experiencing breathing problems and the doctors decided to let him stay in the hospital for care until he reaches full term. It shows that the hospital provides neonatal intensive care to almost 280 premature babies a year. |
