The article presents a gender based analysis of those working in the medical field of obstetrics and gynecology. A brief history of the field is presented and the increasing demand for female obstetricians and gynecologists is explained. Reasons for the short term inelasticity of supply are low turnover, limited residency positions, and eight years required training. The author covers short and long term demand for these physicians, the prices charged, gender income variations, waiting times, and visit scheduling. |
