The article offers information on the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes and role of primary care in its prevention. It states that type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease and is prevalent in families with genetic history of diabetes. Apart from genetic risk, there are several external factors that trigger the disease like influenza B, herpes simplex and dietery factors. There have been several diabetes educators who inform people about its occurrence. |
