The article discusses the rationale and lessons learned in transferring a molecular epidemiologic and biorepository technology to Guanacaste, Costa Rica. According to the article, the transfer of technology culminated in laboratories and a biorepository to support a phase III clinical trial investigating the efficacy of human papillomavirus (HPV) 16/18 vaccine. It points out the sensibility of transferring the molecular epidemiology expertise toward the source of specimens. |
