الوصف: Electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) holds a central role within the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics, providing an explanation for the origin of elementary particle masses through their interactions with the Higgs field. Since the discovery of the Higgs boson, in-depth investigations into EWSB have become a primary focus of research at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In addition to directly studying the properties of the Higgs boson, the scattering of two massive vector bosons (VBS) offers a vital avenue for probing the mechanisms of EWSB. At the LHC, VBS processes are initiated through proton-proton collisions, where initial state quarks emit two vector bosons that subsequently interact to produce another pair of vector bosons. These processes have been observed in various massive boson channels, including WW, WZ, ZZ, Zγ, and Wγ channels, although it is important to conduct more comprehensive measurements of the VBS processes to enhance our understanding of the EWSB. This analysis presents detailed differential cross-section measurements of several kinematic variables in both the VBS-enhanced and VBS-suppressed regions within the ZZjj channel. The measurements are based on proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at a center-of-mass energy of √s = 13 TeV, utilizing an integrated luminosity of 140 fb−1 . In the VBS ZZjj channel, both Z bosons decay into pairs of charged leptons (ee or μμ). This specific final state offers sensitivity to both the strong 4ljj process, where jets originate from strong interactions, and the electroweak 4ljj process, characterized by the t-channel exchange of an electroweak boson. In addition to these measurements, further explorations will be undertaken to interpret these results in the context of Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) theories based on the expected and observed event yields. More particularly, the thesis explores the sensitivity of the anomalous Quartic Gauge Couplings (aQGC) to describe deviations from the SM in the context of the VBS. Key ...
