الوصف: The present article is a translation—to Farsi—of an article by Dr. Kaveh Madani (lecturer in Environmental Management at the Centre for Environmental Policy, Imperial College London) and Nazanin Soroush (Middle East political analyst), entitled "Every breath you take: the environmental consequences of Iran sanctions", published in The Guardian 21 November 2014. The article discusses how both the imposer and the target of sanctions overlook the environmental consequences. Although the devising sanctions are not the root cause of Iran's environmental issues, they have intensified the environmental problems. Various examples are presented to show how and to what extent different sectors of Iran’s environment have been seriously affected; air pollution, drying lakes and rivers, groundwater aquifers, accelerated deforestation and desertification, biodiversity losses, to name a few. The article invites both sides to come to the understanding that the environmental problems do not recognize geopolitical boundaries and last for generations.
