الوصف: This article examines the historiographical interpretation of Italian infantries during the period from the 12th to the early 14th century by the prominent Italian polemologist Piero Pieri (1893-1979), whose work stands as the sole comprehensive analysis on this subject and has served as a major source of inspiration for subsequent scholars. However, given the passage of 90 years and the accumulation of new research, his work requires revision. Specifically, this article challenges Pieri’s rigid temporal and regional categorization, which separates a superior Lombard infantry of the Swabian era, characterized by militarized citizenry, from an inferior Tuscan infantry of the Late Communal period, characterized by bourgeois and peasant levies. This piece rejects Pieri’s criterion for assessing infantry quality in a decontextualized manner and highlights the remarkable homogeneity and excellence of Italian armies in the early 14th century. It asserts that these armies reflect a more cohesive and state-oriented Communal development compared to the more primitive system of the Swabian era. The article also explores the interregional similarity of Italian warfare through mercenarism and underscores the considerable superiority of Italian Communal armies over other European infantries in the early 14th century.

الوصف: Communal armies, highlighting the role of the infantry wings that usually appear on the flanks of the cavalry lines from the end of the 13th century to the first half of the 14th century. The importance of this topic underlies the historiographical underestimation of this combined arms tactic in the evaluation of both the Italian and European Medieval warfare. If the history of military Art has indeed shown considerable interest in the tactical development of European infantry in the early 1300s, the wings of tens of thousands of Italian infantry have been in fact substantially not studied, both in Italy and abroad. The “wing” tactic, while probably not innovative in the wider European landscape, finds its maximum development and documentation in the Italian Communes, supporting the cavalry on the flanks and closing in on the enemy ones once the opponent’s foot is overwhelmed. The article tries to explain, in addition to the interaction of the various arms, also that of the infantry specialties (pikemen, crossbowmen and pavisemen) within the wings, despite the scarce existing information: as a general datum, the great level of collective training armament of the infantrymen is noted together with, however, the decline of the same during the great political-social crisis of the mid-300s, with the persistence above all of professional units of crossbowmen and pavisemen.

الوصف: El capital social es un recurso que surge de las relaciones sociales, gracias a las cuales los actores se aseguran beneficios en virtud de la pertenencia a redes u otras estructuras sociales. Por tanto, diferencias en la estructura de las redes resulta en distintos tipos de capital social. Aquí se analizan los grupos solidarios de microcrédito en Cuartel V, Moreno (Gran Buenos Aires, Argentina), centrándonos en su capacidad de generar distintos tipos de capital social a partir de la red social que constituyen. Los objetivos planteados consisten en analizar a través de qué procesos de asociación u organización comunitaria se genera capital social, para comprender si su construcción es fomentada por el establecimiento de vínculos estrechos o si más bien surge de la capacidad de los actores para establecer diferentes relaciones fuera de su entorno. Se analizan las relaciones que se establecen entre distintos grupos solidarios, una ONG de Desarrollo y una organización comunitaria, y se indaga sobre la fuerza y centralidad en la red, considerando individuos, grupos y organizaciones. La estrategia metodológica es cualitativa basada en entrevistas y grupos focales. Asimismo se combinan aportes conceptuales del capital social y el análisis de redes. Entre los hallazgos puede destacarse que la existencia de grupos de microcrédito en Cuartel V es posible gracias al capital social de una arraigada organización comunitaria local. Asimismo, los grupos solidarios se constituyen a partir de redes inter-personales preexistentes densas de familiares y/o vecinos que generan capital social de unión y/o vinculación y que la ONG impulsa el desarrollo de estos vínculos al tiempo que se genera capital social de puente entre estos actores.
Social Capital is a resource resulting from social relations, by which actors ensure themselves benefits thanks to their belonging to networks or other social structures. Thus, differences in network structure results in different types of social capital. Here, we analyze micro credit solidarity groups in Cuartel V, Moreno (Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina), paying attention to its capacity of generating different types of social capital from the social network its constitute. The objectives are to analyze through which associative or organizational processes social capital is created, in order to asses if it is propped by the establishment of close ties or rather by the ability of actors to establish different relationships outside their environment. The relationships established between solidarity groups, the Fundación Pro Vivienda Social and a community organizations; investigating about intensity and centrality in the network, considering individuals, groups and organizations. The methodological strategy is qualitative as based on interviews and focus groups and the theoretical framework combines insights from social capital and social network analysis. Among the findings we can highlight that the very existence of micro credit groups in Cuartel V is made possible by social capital and a well established local community organization. Also, solidarity groups constitute themselves from pre-existent dense inter personal networks of family members and/or neighbors generating bonding and/or linking social capital and that the Fundación propel the development of such relationships while generating bridging social capital between these actors.

الوصف: Objectives This study evaluated the radiographic progressions of scoliotic curves higher than 40° in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). These subjects waited for the surgical procedure while elective surgeries were on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic. Inadditiontoradiographicprogressions, this studydescribed the quality of life of these patients. Methods This study is a retrospective cohort assessing 29 AIS patients with surgical indications registered in the Brazilian public healthcare service. We compared the scoliotic radiographic measurements in two moments: at the beginning of the interruption of elective surgeries due to the COVID-19 pandemic and when these procedures resumed. Results When comparing the radiographic measurements before and after the suspension of assessments for elective surgeries, we observed a significant increase in main curve angles ( p < 0.001), with variations ranging from 0 to 68° and a median valueof10°.Insecondary curves, weobserved anincreaseinangles fromthe proximal thoracic ( p < 0.001) and lumbar ( p = 0.001) regions. However, the increase in the main thoracic region was not significant ( p = 0.317). Conclusion The suspension of elective surgeries for AIS resulted in a significant increase in the radiographic values of patients' spine deformities. This increase harmed the quality of life of these subjects and their families.

S’inspirant de plusieurs ouvrages identifiés dans l’article, elle rédige un récit de pèlerinage qui conserve l’anonymat de son auteur. Entre exercice pénitentiel et volonté d’universalité, le texte invite à une réflexion sur les raisons de cet anonymat autobiographique.

الوصف: Introduction: The CAPTURE study estimated the contemporary (2019) prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) across 13 countries. This CAPTURE post hoc analysis describes the occurrence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the group with and without CVD in Argentinian population. Methods: CAPTURE is a multinational, cross-sectional, non-interventional study conducted between December 2018 and September 2019. Data on CVD diagnoses, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and urine albumin level was collected during routine visits. CKD was assessed in the subjects with and without CVD.
