The work was carried out in the UBPC "San Pablo", in the district Vertientes, of the province Camagüey, entity dedicated to sugarcane production, with the objective of evaluating the technical and exploitative an energy consumption indexes of the sugar cane harvesters Case IH A 8800. Standards and methodologies were applied that allowed to determine the work indexes to contribute to its correct exploitation. The results showed that during the working day the time of clean work represented the 53.06% because of the time lost due to causes not imputed to the machine and of the time of technical maintenance, due to the periods of wait of the means of transport, and of the space foreseen in the preparation of the machine to begin the work daily. The harvesters averaged a yield of 60.9 t/h, with fuel consumption of 1.02 L/t, being this last one the indicator that more impacted in the energy cost of the machine, representing 88.17% of the consumed total, determining the elevation of the costs, being decisive in the direct expenses of exploitation, requiring for this concept 2.04 peso/t, implying an expense of 124.23 peso/h and 201.75 peso/ha, with an expense in salary of 17.89 peso/h and 28.98 peso/ha. El siguiente trabajo se realizó en la UBPC "San Pablo", en el municipio Vertientes, de la provincia de Camagüey, entidad destinada a la producción de caña de azúcar. Con el objetivo de evaluar los índices técnicos y de explotación y energéticos de las cosechadoras de caña de azúcar CASE IH A 8800, se aplicaron normas y metodologías, que permitieron determinar los índices de trabajo para contribuir a su correcta explotación. Los resultados mostraron que, durante la jornada laboral, el tiempo de trabajo limpio representó el 53,06%, producto del tiempo perdido por causas ajenas a la máquina y del tiempo de mantenimiento técnico, debido a los periodos de espera de los medios de transporte, y del espacio previsto en la preparación de la máquina para iniciar el trabajo diariamente. Las cosechadoras promediaron una productividad de 60,9 t/h, con consumo de combustible de 1,02 L/t, siendo este último el indicador que más incidió en el costo energético de la máquina, representando el 88,17% del total consumido, enmarcando la elevación de los costos, siendo determinante en los costos directos de explotación, requiriendo por este concepto 2,04 peso/t, implicando un gasto de 124.23 peso/h y 201.75 peso/ha, con un gasto en salario, de 17.89 peso/h y 28.98 peso/ha.
