The article, based on sources and literature issued both in Latvia and the USA, examines formation of the USA mission, its arrival in Liepāja and activities in the spring of 1919 when the Provisional Government of Latvia was forced to retreat to this town. Great attention is paid to relationships between the mission, its leader Warwick Greene and the Provisional Government of Latvia, the leadership of the armed forces, the municipality of Liepāja controlled by the Social Democratic Party and Baltic Germans, as well as to the activities after the German-organized coup d'état of 16 April 1919 when the Americans strove to attain the formation of a coalition government. Rakstā, balstoties uz Latvijas un ASV avotiem un literatūru, aplūkota ASV misijas izveidošana, ierašanās Liepājā un darbība 1919. gada pavasarī, kad Latvijas Pagaidu valdība bija spiesta pārcelties uz šo pilsētu. Īpaša uzmaniīa pievērsta misijas un tās vadītāja Vorvika Grīna attiecībām ar Latvijas Pagaidu valdību, bruņoto spēku vadību, sociāldemokrātu partijas kontrolē esošo Liepājas pilsētas pašvaldību, baltvāciešiem, kā arī darbībai pēc vāciešu organizētā 16. aprī ļa apvērsuma, kad amerikā ņi centās panākt koalīcijas valdības izveidi.
