    الوصف: Preeklampsia adalah suatu gangguan multisistem yang mempengaruhi 2-8% kehamilan di seluruh dunia yang muncul pada usia kehamilan 20 minggu. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan nilai rerata Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR), Platelet to Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR), dan Mean Platelet Volume (MPV) pada kehamilan dengan preeklampsia dan kehamilan normal. Penelitian cross sectional komparasi dilakukan pada ibu hamil dengan preeklampsia dan ibu dengan kehamilan normal, usia kehamilan trimester II dan III di RSUD Sanjiwani Gianyar. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling, masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 60 sampel. Data NLR, PLR, dan MVP serta data lainnya dikumpulkan dari rekam medis. Analisis data dilakukan secara univariat dan bivariat menggunakan SPSS for windows version 25.0. Perbedaan nilai rerata NLR, PLR, dan MVP antara kelompok preeklampsia dan kelompok pembanding dianalisis dengan independent sampled t-test pada tingkat kemaknaan 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada nilai rerata NLR, PLR dan MPV pada kedua kelompok. Nilai ketiga variabel ditemukan lebih tinggi pada kelompok preeklampsia dibandingkan kelompok normal. Perbedaan nilai rerata sebesar 0,93 untuk variabel NLR (p=0,011), 21,97 untuk variabel PLR (p=0,011) dan 0,47 untuk variabel MPV (p=0,008). Kekuatan prediksi dilihat dari effect size (delta Cohen's) dimana ketiga variabel termasuk dalam kategori sedang. ; Preeclampsia is an idiopathic multisystem disorder that affects 2-8% of pregnancies worldwide.     الوصف: Abstract: Symptoms and findings in acute perforated appendicitis (APA) may not always typical in children, becomes difficult to establish the diagnosis preoperatively. Rapid and accurate diagnosis is important to reduce the risk of sepsis and even death. Another biomarkers for diagnosis are needed. This study investigated the diagnostic accuracy of indicators of platelet activation, namely mean platelet volume and platelet distribution width, in children with non perforated acute appendicitis (NPAA) and APA. This retrospective study compared 15 patients with APA (Group I), 15 patients with NPAA (Group II) between January 2016 to December 2018. Patient white blood cell (WBC) count, platelet (PLT) count, MPV, PDW, and hematocrit (HCT) were analyzed. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of these indices in AP. Positive correlation was found between MPV and the degree of AP; as well as negative correlation between PDW and degree of AP. This is the first study to assess the MPV and PDW in pediatric patients with AP. This study showed the MPV is reduced and the PDW is normal in patients with AP. A decreased MPV value could serve as a marker to diagnose AP preoperatively. More studies are needed to establish relationship between PDW and MPV with AP.     الوصف: Platelets are known to have a role major in the pathogenesis of atherothrombosis. More giant and hyperreactive platelets accelerate the formation of an intracoronary thrombus. An increased MPV as an indicator of larger and more reactive platelets represents a risk factor for overall vascular mortality, including myocardial infarction. This study aimed to identify the increase of Mean Platelet Volume in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndromes, especially in ST-elevation myocardial infarction and Non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction. Thus this parameter can be used as consideration for diagnosis and treatment decisions. This research is an analytic observational with a cross-sectional method. The subjects were patients with STEMI and NSTEMI who were hospitalized in ICCU Dr.Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta. Thirty-four subjects STEMI and NSTEMI patients at Dr. Sardjito Hospital, consisting of 28 males (82,35%) and six women (17,65%) with a mean age of 55,5 ± 10,3 years. The results showed that MPV in AMI was higher in patients with STEMI than NSTEMI, but this difference is not significant (p = 0,091). This study concludes that MPV to be higher in patients with STEMI compared to NSTEMI. MPV may be used as a marker of myocardial infarction in clinically appropriate situations.

    الوصف: Severe sepsis is a general condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and inpatient wards which correlates with mortality, morbidity, and high cost hospitalization. The main point of this study was to explore the possibility to use the mean platelet volume (MPV) as an easier alternative score for mortality predictor in addition to APACHE II score in severe sepsis patients. This study used cross-sectional design on 76 adult severe sepsis patients in Haji Adam Malik General Hospital Medan who met inclusion criteria during the periood of October 2015 to January 2016. Data collected were MPV value and APACHE II score, which were collected the first time patient was diagnosed as having severe sepsis which was then observed for their mortality The Spearman correlation tests showed that there was a weak yet significant correlation (p=0.006) between MPV and APACHE II with r (correlation) = 0.314. The MPV values in this study were unable to predict mortality (AUC) ROC 58.2% (95% CI: 45.1–71.2%, p=0.223). whereas the APACHE II score has a moderate ability to predict mortality (AUC) ROC 70,4% (95% CI: 58,6–82,2%, p= 0.002). The cut-off point of APACHE II was 19 with a sensitivity of 65.9% and a specificity of 65.7%, and a PPV of 69.2% and NPV of 62.2%. Therefore, based on this study the MPV score cannot be used as a mortality predictor in severe sepsis patients.

    الوصف: Demam berdarah dengue (DBD)masih merupakan masalah kesehatan di dunia danjuga di Indonesia. Di dunia, diperkirakan 500.000kasus dirawat di rumah sakit, dan sedikitnya 2,5%meninggal. Salah satu cara dalam mendiagnoispenyakit DBD yaitu dengan meninjau gejala klinisyang timbul. Gejala klinis yang timbul dapatdiklasifikasikan berdasarkan derajat keparahanpenyakitnya. Dalam mendiagnosis penyakit DBDselain ditinjau dari gejala klinis yang timbul,dilakukan juga pemeriksaan laboratorium yaitupemeriksaan darah rutin seperti kadar hemoglobin,hematokrit, jumlah trombosit. Namun adapemeriksaan laboratorium untuk penyakit DBDyang belum dipergunakan secara optimal, yaitupemeriksaan Platelet Distribution Widht (PDW)dan Mean Platelet Volume (MPV) yang dapatmendukung pemeriksaan laboratorium untukmenilai derajat klinis penyakit DBD, yang selamaini hanya melihat dari kadar trombosit saja.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk Mengetahuihubungan platelet distribution widht (PDW) danmean platelet volume (MPV) dengan derajat klinispenyakit demam berdarah.Metode: Jenis penelitian analitik denganpendekatan studi cross sectional. Subjek penelitianini sebanyak 65 orang pasien DBD yang diperolehdi RSUD Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek.Hasil: Dari hasil uji statistik somers’d didapatkanterdapat hubungan antara nilai PlateletDistribution Width (PDW) dengan derajat klinisDBD kekuatan korelasi sedang (0,40 – 0,599) danarah hubungan positif (p = 0,004, dan r = -0,440),dan terdapat juga hubungan antara nilai MeanPlatelet Volume (MPV) dengan derajat klinis BDBdengan kekuatan korelasi sedang (0,40 – 0,599)dan arah hubungan positif (p = 0,002, dan r =0,444).Simpulan: Terdapat hubungan antara nilai PlateletDistribution Width (PDW) dan Mean PlateletVolume (MPV) dengan Derajat Klinis DemamBerdarah Dengue (DBD) di RSUD Dr. H. PDW didapatkan lebih tinggi pada SSD dibanding dengan DBD (11,64 vs. 9,72%; p<0,05) begitu MPV (10,38 vs 8,53 fl; p<0,05). Didapatkan korelasi positif antara hemokonsentrasi dan PDW (r=0,217; p<0,05) begitu juga antara hemokonsentrasi dan MPV (r=0,118; p<0,05).Kesimpulan. PDW dan MPV dapat digunakan sebagai prediktor progresivitas dari DBD.

    الوصف: The electromagnetic field is increasing in our environment and these exposures cause concern. The aim of our study is to investigate the effects of magnetic fields generated by the hairdryer devices used by women working in the same job on their serum biochemistry, whole blood, and hormone values. The sixteen women working continuously in hairdressing salons were included in the study. Two groups of studies were designed: control (n:8, mean age: 22.25±6.04) and experimental group (n:8, mean age:23,62±6.67). The biochemical (median values of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, triglycerides, and very-low-density lipoprotein were found high) and hormonal results of the experimental group were compared with the biochemical (cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, and very high-density lipoprotein had high median values) and hormonal results of the control group and no significant difference was found (p>0.05). When the whole blood parameters were examined, the white blood cells and mean platelet volume results of the experimental group were significant (p0.05). It is evident from the results that occupational exposure to magnetic fields constantly leads to changes in the biochemistry, hormone and whole blood parameters of the female.

    الوصف: Background. Mean platelet volume is a marker of platelet, size and activation functions. Increased mean platelet volume showed a large and active platelet release more thromboxane A2 than smaller ones. A simple marker was detected using a fast and functional techniques will help approaches to inflammation caused by platelets. Thus MPV is an important examination of effective simple, easy, and low cost to be used and explored extensively, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia, to predict the likelihood of complications to come. Methods and Results. Seventy-two patients (age minimum 30 years and maximum 80 years who came to the hospital with a presentation IMA-EST onset less than 12 hours were included in this study. Following primary percutaneous intervention coroner examined myocardial blush with Qube and see the relationship with the value mean platelet volume (MPV) in assessing myocardial flow. End point of this study is the lack of correlation between MPV values in the assessment of myocardial blush Qube post-reperfusion. Conclusion. MPV values in this population as the initial entry no relationship with Qube in assessing the value of post-reperfusion myocardial blush
