مستخلص: Dimitrie Moldovan (1811-1889), the remarkable icon of Romanian philanthropy in Transylvania, passed on to his daughter, Ioana Bădilă-Moldovan (1854-1899), an unmatched philanthropic culture in the history of the Orthodox Church in Transylvania. Our study reveals a series of historical data about the one who would become the vice-president of the Romanian Women’s Reunion in Transylvania (Reuniunea Femeilor Române din Transilvania) and a great supporter of ASTRA’s actions. Her departure from this world brought her gift to the Romanian youth in the form of a donation for a boarding school for students in Cluj and funds for the construction of the Metropolitan Cathedral (consecrated in 1906). She provided ASTRA with funds for the construction of the National House (inaugurated in 1905). Thus, she offers the Association the chance to help the Romanian youth in Transylvania, Orthodox and Greek Catholics alike, to progress towards empowerment. Therefore, the professionalism of that generation which grew up also with Ioan Bădilă’s help, her husband, will fundamentally contribute to the development of Greater Romania. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
