Varroosis is a serious disease of bees caused by Varroa destructor , a parasitic mite present in honey bee colonies in the UK since 1992. This parasite feeds on the haemolymph of adult bees and the developing brood, resulting in deformed bees and ultimately leading to the destruction of the colony.
