مستخلص: A study of the prescription of three medical contraceptive methods (the pill, the intrauterine device and injectable contraceptives) was carried out between 1986 and 1988 on 1,035 women in 13 family planning centers and a maternity hospital in a département of the Paris region. Analysis of sociodemographic and economic factors, medical criteria for prescription, and circumstances in which a method was prescribed revealed the major characteristics of contraceptive use in one region of France: massive use of the pill and the IUD, especially of the pill among very young women, and low but not negligible use of injectable contraceptives, especially among immigrant women.
