Some events of the philosophic institute Aloisianum of the Society of Jesus. The article illustrates the history of an Institute created for the philosophical formation of Italian Jesuits. Such history links together cultural facts and political events. It belongs to the cultural history those guiding lines highlighted by the Ratio sudiorum regarding general studies and, more specifically, philosophical ones. Yet, neglecting modern literature opens at an increasing distance from the sorrounding cultural world. Such distance becomes clearly political at the time of the incipient National State. In turn, the tension between Jesuits belonging to the Aloisianum and modern Liberalism is reflected in their Neo-Thomism, although based on strong theoretical purposes. The modernist crisis is understood essentially as a philosophical problem, thus producing convergence between orthodoxy and philosophy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

Alcune vicende dell’Istituto filosofico Aloisianum della Compagnia di Gesú. L’articolo delinea la storia di un Istituto di insegnamento di filosofia dei gesuiti italiani. Tale storia unisce assieme fatti culturali ed eventi politici. Appartiene alla storia della cultura ciò che la Ratio studiorum affermava degli studi in genere e in particolare degli studi di filosofia. La non considerazione della letteratura e della saggistica moderne segna però una crescente distanza culturale col mondo che stava nascendo. Tale distanza diventa chiaramente politica nell’epoca del nascente stato nazionale. A sua volta, la tensione tra i gesuiti dell’Aloisianum e il «liberalismo» moderno si riflette all’interno del loro neo-tomismo, peraltro animato da seri intenti teoretici. La crisi modernista è valutata come problema essenzialmente filosofico contribuendo cosí a unire ortodossia e filosofia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
