The author discusses proper positioning techniques after surgery of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RD). Successful surgery of rhegmatogenous RD can be achieved by multiple interventions including pneumatic retinopexy and vitrectomy. Results of the Pneumatic Retinopexy Study showed a potential visual benefit with pneumatic retinopexy in patients with macula-involving detachments. Also discussed is the use of retinal detachment repair techniques that employ gas tamponade. |
