The article focuses on a study on the effects of economic factors on the prevalence of obesity among adults in the U.S. As part of the study, the authors examined women aged 30 to 60 years old from 1976 to 2000. The findings show that the adjustment to a new long-run equilibrium may take years if changes in the body weight norm occur with a lag. Based on the findings, the authors conclude that the specifics of the metabolism model matter for prediction and policy analysis. |
