مستخلص: Antibiotics, used to treat human and animal diseases are often found ineffective due to rapidly increasing antibiotic resistance. Many of the acute and chronic diseases are caused by biofilm producing microbes. Since the emergence of antibiotic resistance throughout the world has been a point of concern some alternative therapeutic measure must be adopted that can effectively replace antibiotic drugs. Hence, the development of vaccines against bacterial biofilm is becoming an essential strategy to combat the emergence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) The use of vaccines results in the reduction in the prevalence of the resistant pathogenic organisms as exemplified by the use of pneumococcal vaccine. Among the new vaccine technologies like reverse vaccinology, structural vaccinology, the nano vaccines are showing promising results over traditional subunit vaccines in terms of enhanced chemo and thermostability, ability to provide rapid and long-lasting and administrability through various route in the body. Bacterial outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) and nano-sized proteolipids enriched with various immunogenic molecules have gained extensive interest as novel nano-vaccines against bacterial infections. The production of almost all of these nano-vaccine technologies presently use synthetic (chemical) methods or require hybrid production sequences which couple synthetic methods to some cell-based semi-biosynthesis step. [Display omitted] • Nanovaccines as alternate strategy in combating antibacterial resistance. • Use of nanocarriers in carrying antigens. • Vaccine against biofilm producing microbes.
