The article comments on a research paper which focuses on the mechanism involved in the effects of Gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) on functions of central nervous system. It is said that it identifies a type of extrasynaptic GABA A receptors as a target for GHB. It is said that GHB is used in treatment of alcoholism and nacrolepsy, however its availability is tightly regulated because of its abuse. The interaction of GHB with GABA receptors and GHB binding site is also discussed. |
