To conduct consultations is the main task of general practitioners. This study concerns itself with consultations, what they are about, how they are structured and how their achievements can be described. In total, 127 recorded consultations were analyzed. The 12 recorded general practitioners were themselves involved in the data analysis. The analysis confirms that in comparison to the European average, the Swiss consultation is rather long with a consultation length of 12.5 minutes. 80% of the consultation time is taken up by mere conversation. Per average, three medical topics are discussed within that time. Thus, about three minutes are at disposal per topic. In every consultation we can also find one non-medical topic. The structure of a consultation is complex and changes continually depending on the performed tasks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

Les consultations sont l'activité principale du médecin généraliste. Cette étude s'intéresse à ces consultations, examine de quoi il y est question, ce qui détermine leur structure et la manière dont on peut décrire leurs prestations. L'enquête porte sur 127 consultations qui ont été enregistrées. Les 12 médecins qui ont effectué ces enregistrements ont eux-mêmes participé à l'analyse. Cette analyse apporte la confirmation qu'en Suisse, la durée de consultation, qui est de 12,5 minutes, est plus longue en comparaison avec la moyenne européenne. Les 80% du temps de consultation ne sont que de la conversation, pendant laquelle en moyenne 3 thèmes médicaux sont abordés. Le temps imparti à chaque thème est de 3 minutes. De plus nous trouvons un thème non médical à chaque consultation. La structure d'une consultation est complexe et change continuellement selon les problèmes qui se présentent. Konsultationen sind das Kerngeschäft der Hausärzte. Was bestimmt deren Aufbau und wie kann die durch die Konsultation erbrachte Leistung beschrieben werden? Entlang dieser Fragen haben wir 127 Konsultationen in Form von Tonaufnahmen untersucht. Die 12 aufgenommenen Ärzte waren selber an der Analyse der Daten beteiligt. Die Untersuchung bestätigt eine im Vergleich zum europäischen Durchschnitt eher längere Konsultationsdauer von 12.5 Minuten in der Schweiz. 80% der Konsultationszeit sind dem reinen Gespräch vorbehalten. Es werden durchschnittlich drei verschiedene medizinische Themen in einer Konsultation besprochen. Pro Thema stehen gute 3 Minuten zur Verfügung. In jeder Konsultation findet sich auch ein nicht-medizinisches Thema. Der Aufbau einer Konsultation ist komplex undwechselt dauernd je nach Aufgabenstellung. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
