The article offers ideas on the management of anaphylaxis, a multisystem immunoglubulin E (IgE)-mediated allergic reaction that may lead to hypertension, urticaria, angioedema, asthma, gastrointestinal upset and death. Anaphylaxis is believed to be caused by adverse drug reactions and insect venom allergy. To prevent attacks, patients are advised to always bring antihistamines for minor episodes. The assessment of anaphylaxis in allergy clinic is also discussed. |
