مستخلص: Basal plates of natural beryls were studied by optical microscope, X-ray topography, and electron microprobe analysis. Optical anomalies were found to depend on growth history and on variation of impurity content: in particular optical axial plane orientations and 2V values were found to depend on minor element concentration differences in growth sectors. Knowledge of growth history of minerals can now make possible the differentiation between primary and secondary optical anomalies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
