الوصف: Phosphoinositides (PIs) undergo phosphorylation/dephosphorylation cycles through organelle-specific PI kinases and PI phosphatases that lead to distinct subcellular distributions of the individual PI species. Specific PIs control the correct timing and location of many trafficking events. Their ultimate mode of action is not always well defined, but it includes localized recruitment of transport machinery, allosteric regulation of PI-binding proteins and changes in the physical properties of the membrane.
