مستخلص: A new species of the genus Orbilia, O. yuanensis (Orbiliales, Orbiliomycetes), was collected from Yunnan Province (China) and Taiwan. The fungus differs from previously known Orbilia species in that it has rod-shaped ascospores with a tear-shaped spore body. An anamorph that was obtained from ascospore isolates is characterized as producing long, curved macroconidia and much smaller, partly helicoid microconidia. Morphologically, this anamorph fits the polyphyletic genus Anguillospora. Based on a sequence analysis of the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) gained from two isolates, O. yuanensis nested near species of the Orbilia luteorubella aggregate, although at a rather high distance. To date, there have been two reports regarding a connection between Orbilia species and their Anguillospora anamorph. The connection between O. yuanensis and its Anguillospora anamorph discussed here is the third published report. In this paper, both teleomorph and anamorph are illustrated and described.
