    الوصف: Neutron diffraction data from sub- and supercritical CO2, collected over three different experimental runs, are analysed together, in order to investigate the evolution of the microscopic structure with the thermodynamic parameters. The relative orientations of neighbouring molecules are analysed also in terms of the angular radial correlation function, obtained by molecular dynamics simulation runs compatible with the total neutron weighted radial distribution function. Orientational correlations between neighbouring molecules are seen to persist across the whole thermodynamic range investigated. However, these are limited to the first neighbouring shell, and mainly ascribable to the quadrupolar interaction.

    الوصف: Polarization ratio measurements in liquid H2S as a function of frequency are reported from 0 to 1350 cm-1. An isotropic induced contribution to the Rayleigh wing is derived. Absolute intensities, obtained from a comparison with the polarized vibrational stretching, are also discussed.

    مستخلص: Neutron diffraction measurements are reported of carbon dioxide in dense supercritical states distributed along three isotherms (313 K, 373 K and 473 K) and at various densities ranging from 8.7 molecules nm-8 to 14.0 molecules nm-8. The intermolecular structure factors, obtained after subtraction of the intramolecular interference terms, are transformed to r space yielding the neutron weighted pair distribution functions. Throughout the supercritical region investigated, the structure of the fluid depends essentially upon the density. The experimental results are compared also with a model system of fluid CO2 in the absence of orientational correlations as well as with existing molecular dynamics simulations. It is found that the orientational correlations persist in the supercritical region investigated and that the data are consistent with a predominance of T shaped local configurations at higher densities.
