The article offers information on the significance of mercury from the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. As stated, the mercury laser is designed to lead the way to a 10-shots-per- second, for commercial laser fusion. In addition, it is a prototype laser adequate of scaling in aperture and energy to a NIF-like beamline with greater electrical efficiency, while running at a repetition rate 100,000 times greater. |
