The authors offer opinions on findings on the use of myoblasts and fibroblasts in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence in women. Surgical procedures used to treat the problem are sometimes ineffective. The injection of myoblasts and fibroblasts taken from skeletal muscle biopsy specimens were shown to have significant success enabling patients to regain continence. The rigorous follow-up surveys and trials used by the researchers make their conclusions more promising than many medical "breakthroughs" presented with insufficient data to support them. |
