الوصف: Motives carry the traces of socio-cultural experiences of societies. For motifs, it can be said that they have „the potential to become a tool‟ in carrying out the culture transfer between „past, present and future‟. Motifves (patterns) are like mirrors reflecting the lifestyles and customs of the communities they belong to. In the simplest expression, the motives constitute the „cultural language‟ of the communities to which they belong. As Turks had adopted nomadic life style for long year, Turks were able to interact with different cultures. In this study only „The Similarities Between Traditional Turkish Motif Patterns and Shoe Patterns of Native Americans‟ has been carried out using the visuals discussed. The similarities between the motives used in American native shoe designs and the motives (patterns) on the traditional Turkish carpet, rug, and prayer rugs were examined in the sample of the star, çarkıfelek (svastika/ the cross), eye, water way, and hand motives. As a result of the evaluations, it has been determined that the traditional Turkish motives show great similarity with the motives used by the American natives in their shoe designs. The answer to the question of whether these similarities has occurred randomly or as a result of a conscious interaction can become up with as a result of extensive researches. The research was conducted using literature review. Within the light of obtained data, the theoretical part of the study was established. Images of American native shoes used in the research was obtained from the „American Museum of Natural History Division of Anthropology‟. The images of traditional Turkish carpet, rug, and prayer rugs were obtained from academic researches in the literature. Within the light of the obtained data images were compared and the similarities were revealed.
