مستخلص: The article discusses treatment strategies in the management of metastatic breast cancer. Metastatic breast cancer is a leading cause of death in women as it is not curable at this time. Because it is not curable, the goals in treating advanced breast cancer are to prolong survival and decrease burden of disease. The treatment strategies keep evolving. Hormonal therapies such as fulvestrant intravenous hormone therapy can be provided. Patients may be treated with hormonal therapies initially but will usually progress and require chemotherapy; sequential chemotherapy is preferred over combination chemotherapy. With each new evolution, therapies are becoming better targeted and tolerated and easier for patients to comply with.
