مستخلص: This article presents a study which investigated water movement in two termite mounds in Rhodesia by means of a radioactive tracer. A brief background on the study areas, a review of previous related literature and a description of the study's methodology are provided. The study found that termite mounds are subjected to less leaching than the surrounding soils. The distribution of free carbonates within the termite mound, the low base content of the ground water and the Penman evaporation rate indicate that the free carbonates in the termite mound could not have come entirely from the ground water.
