The article presents a study on the locus of control and immediate affect states. A group of 80 male and 80 female college students were administered the Rotter Internal vs. External Control of Reinforcement (JE) measure and the Wessman and Ricks Personal Feeling Scales (PFS). Data supported the hypothesized relationship between internality and positive affect with two measures of social desirability partialled out. Mean PFS scores computed for each S was found to be significantly related (pc .05) to internality for both sexes, but there were sex differences in the relation of individual PFS items to JE. |
