The inflammatory burden intrinsically related to cardiac surgery, therefore, might be an acute disturbing factor in the chronic equilibrium of a patient with psoriasis and might have profound clinical consequences. Considering the pathophysiologic similarity between the psoriasis-mediated inflammation and the irritative responses triggered by cardiac surgery and cardiopulmonary bypass, surgical outcomes might be affected by psoriasis.
