The article reports on a study on the invalidation of the Overton's rule. It references a study conducted by a team from the University of Warwick in England led by professor Patrick Unwin and posted on http://www.eurekalertTest. org on August 25, 2008. Under the study, an ultramicroelectrode was used in generating a range of acids that are able to diffuse easily into a cell. Results of the study show the opposite of the Overton's rule in which acids that easily dissolves in a lipid tend to transport slower across the membrane. |
