مستخلص: As a kind of induction coil electromagnetic launcher (ICEL) with a special configuration, the reconnection electromagnetic launcher (REL) has the characteristics of no contact, no ablation, minimal radial electromagnetic force, and great axial electromagnetic force. This article presents a novel multipole field cylindrical REL (MFCREL). The theoretical analysis, the magnetic field and eddy current distribution analysis, and the finite element simulation and parameter analysis were carried out to investigate the performance of MFCREL. The theoretical analysis and simulation results have indicated that the proposed MFCREL has a great axial electromagnetic force that can promote the projectile to obtain high muzzle velocity and launch efficiency. Moreover, the cylindrical structure of MFCREL provides space for the rotational motion of the projectile. The analysis results of the number of turns of the drive coils showed that the muzzle velocity of the projectile first increases and then decreases with the increase in the number of turns. When the number of turns of each drive coil is 10, a projectile weighing 1 kg can be accelerated to 114.7 m/s, giving a launch efficiency of 16.45%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
