The article focuses on a study which analyzes the effectiveness of distal tibia resection and arthrodesis of the ankle with non-vascularized structural bone grafts in bone tumor surgery. Using nonvascularized structural bone grafts, resection of the distal tibia and reconstruction by ankle fusion was performed in 8 patients affected by malignant or aggressive benign tumors. All of the patients were alive at followup ranging from 23 to 113 months with an average of 53.5 months. |
