Modern compter technology provides students with easier access to learning materials. Basic knowledge of pathological findings in organs is essential in medical education. We have produced didactic videos for teaching pathology in a clinical context in addition to regular lectures at the university. Didactic material includes macroscopic and histological findings, as well as cartoons explaining pathophysiology and clinical links. Videos can be downloaded in mv4 format as podcasts to a local hard disk or to an iPhone or iPod via iTunes University and are designed to improve classical medical literature. Analysis over 3 years of server traffic and subjective impressions by the students revealed regular use and high acceptance by users. Didactic material in clinical pathology can be successfully integrated in videos to complement lectures and practical training. Modern teaching methods in pathology make the specialty more understandable and therefore more attractive for students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

Hintergrund: Studierende haben mittels moderner Computertechnik leichten Zugriff auf Lehrmaterial. Wir haben eine Reihe kurzer Lehrvideos angefertigt, in denen die histologischen Befunde im klinischen Kontext und im Bezug zu den makroskopischen Befunden der Pathologie und der Radiologie dargestellt werden. Material und Methoden: Die Videos sind im Format mv4 als so genannter Podcast über Internet verfügbar (http://www.pathocast.blip.tvTest) und können über iTunes-University auf tragbare Geräte wie den iPod übertragen werden. Wir haben die Akzeptanz mittels Umfragen und die Nutzung mittels Zugriffszahlen auf den Videoserver über 3 Jahre untersucht. Ergebnisse: Die Videos wurden regelmäßig zur Prüfungsvorbereitung mit einer reproduzierbaren zeitlichen Korrelation zwischen Zugriffszahlen und Prüfungsterminen genutzt. Umfragen ergaben eine sehr positive Resonanz von der Seite der Studierenden. Schlussfolgerungen: Die Lehre in Form von integrativen und fachübergreifenden Videos macht das Lernen der Pathologie verständlicher und attraktiver und kann sowohl Lehrbücher als auch Lehrveranstaltungen wie Frontalunterricht, Seminare und Praktika erfolgreich unterstützen bzw. ergänzen. Moderne Methoden in der Lehre der Pathologie machen das Fach verständlicher und somit auch attraktiver für den Nachwuchs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
