مستخلص: The article discusses noninvasive brain-computer interface (BCI) systems for persons with suffering from paralysis or extreme neuromuscular disorders. Noninvasive systems record, interpret, and translate into action electroencephalographic signals taken from the user's scalp. The authors discuss the working processes of such systems and highlight several applications including neuroprostheses control, spelling systems, and stroke rehabilitation. They note that although most BCI systems are laboratory prototypes, research in the field holds much promise.
