The article discusses a study conducted by researcher Alban Latremoliere, published in the periodical "Neuron" in 2015 related to treatment of pain by inhibition of an enzyme in mice. It noted that pain-tolerant people have genetic differences in the gene that codes for the enzyme Guanosine-5'-triphosphate (GTP) cyclohydrolase 1 (GCHi). It mentions production of a defective version of GCHi in sensory neurons of genetically engineered mice. |
