مستخلص: Schemas as the key cognitive structure of individual are the object of study of several fields of science. In psychology this belongs to the domain of cognitive, as well as clinical and social psychology. The presented study focuses on the theory of the schemas from the aspect of relevant approaches of contemporary psychology and psychotherapy. The history of the schema concept is introduced from a wider perspective, with emphasis on the contribution provided especially by works of C.F. Bartlett and A.T. Beck. Moreover, described are also schema approaches that have been known and studied in clinical psychology under different terms (e.g., introjection in O. Kernberg, deconstruction and externalization in systemic and narrative psychotherapy, reframing in Palo Alto strategic and communication therapy, and such). IndiČeskoslovenská psychologie 2013 / ročník LVII / číslo 6 Přehledové studie vidual attention is given to the newer concept of the early maladaptive schemas defined by the American psychologist and psychotherapist Jeffrey E. Young. Specific features of this approach are described by 4 basic fields and concepts that he defines (early maladaptive schemas, schema domains, coping styles and schema modes). Conclusion suggests also implications for newer trends in psychological study, e.g., positive psychology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
